Last March 2, 2018, at the Poro point Baywalk, City of San Fernando, La Union, the 168th Foundation anniversary of the province culminated with the crowning of Mutia ti La Union 2018. It was a battle for the crown among the 19 municipalities and 1 city of the province composed of the equally beautiful and witty ladies composed of Agoo, Vea Lalas, Aringay, Zhandra Manongdo, Bacnotan, Patricia Anne Nichole Bangug, Bagulin, Mikay Aguado, Balaoan, Chin Velbis, Bangar, Issa Corpuz, Bauang, Ann Madayag, Burgos, Maris Pagtulingan, Caba, Alyssa Orfano, Luna, Zeah Pala, Naguilian, Melody Buscayno, Pugo, Maris Tumacdang, Rosario, Xiannia Trinidad, City of San Fernando, Donnabelle Erno, San Gabriel, Zhania Itchon, San Juan, Jenn Yadyadoc, Santol, Carm Marquez, Santo Tomas, Alec Flores, Sudipen, Katrina Isidro and Tubao, Maricar Orque.

Special awards and minor awards were awarded to the following:

Best in Swimsuit - City of San Fernando

Miss Toyota - Bauang
Miss Friendship - Bangar
Miss Photogenic - Sudipen
Best in Evening Gown - City of San Fernando

After the ladies had showcased their runway skills thru the swimsuit competition and long gown competition, the Top 10 ladies advanced to the semi-final round with Aringay, Caba, San Juan,
Santol, Agoo, Rosario, Santo Tomas, Sudipen, Luna and the City of San Fernando.

They had a battle of wit through the Casual Interview where top 5 ladies were eliminated and another set of ladies became the top 5, composed of Miss City of San Fernando, Miss Luna, Miss Aringay, Miss Agoo and Miss Santo Tomas.

In the end of the final competition which was the question and answer, the 5 finalists were then awarded according to the rank of their scores.

Miss La Union (Mutia Ti La Union in Ilocano) is the annual pageant in La Union, the Philippines. It started last 2002 as part of celebrating the Foundation anniversary of the Province (March 2, 1850).

The Municipality of Agoo is the most successful Municipality in MUTIA TI LA UNION. They have 9 titles all in all. 2005, Medard Angela German, 2006, Fatima Glenna Cabilatazan, 2009, Nicolle Tuttle (+) and then Agoo is the only Municipality who crowned her successor with the same municipality not only once but six times from 2012 to 2017, it started last 2012, Aiyana Camille Mikiewicz, 2013, Kimberly Penchon, 2014, Heide Ronato, 2015, Alessandra Casimiro, 2016, Trizha Ocampo and 2017, Carina G. Cariño, whose mother Nora Gebilaguin was also a former Miss Agoo and Miss La Union. Carina represented the province in Miss Millennial Philippines 2017 where she won the 1st RU finish.

But after 6 consecutive crowns awarded to Agoo, Miss City of San Fernando had broken the 6-peat of Agoo with her wit and beauty. Donnabelle was outstanding with her Morena complexion, gracious catwalk and short hair as well as she was able to deliver a powerful answer to a question that others describe as a very simple question.

Miss Agoo, Vea gave a good fight by managing to clinch a top 2 finish for her municipality and Santo Tomas was able again to enter top 3 after 3 years, the town won as Mutia ti Turismo last 2015. Luna had improved their 2nd ru placement last year to a 1st RU victory of Zeah this year. Aringay was also back in top 5 since last 2012 that they also managed to win 2nd RU. The City of San Fernando had their last MLU crown last 2007.

The people of La Union are hoping that this year's batch will again produce a candidate of the province who will represent La Union in a regional , national and global pageant. Here is a list of some Mutia ti La Union beauties who went on to represent the province.

4. Fatima Glenna Cabilatazan (Agoo 2005, Winner) - Miss Philippines Earth Candidate 2006

5. Ma. Kristina Tabas (Pugo 2008, Mutia Ti Kalikasan) - Miss Philippines Earth Candidate 2008

6. Anna Katrina Bautista (San Fernando City 2007, Winner) - Miss Philippines Earth 2007 / Turismo Pilipina 2008 3rd Runner Up

7. Kimberle Mae Penchon (Agoo 2013, Winner) - Miss Beauche International 2014 (Winner), Binibining Pilipinas 2016 Top 15 Semifinalist but she represented her heritage of being a Cordillera beauty.

8. Mabel Joy Verceiles (Bauang 2013, Mutia Ti Kalikasan) - Miss Philippines Earth 2014 Candidate, she represented Vigan City

9. Rochelle Saavedra (Bauang 2010, Semifinalist) - Miss Bikini Philippines 2010 Candidate

10. Maria Heidie Ronato (Bauang/Agoo 2014, Winner) - Miss Bikini Philippines 2010 Candidate but backed-out

11. Brendolf Muñoz (San Fernando/Bauang 2010, Muti Ti Turismo) - Miss Philippines Earth 2010 Candidate
