 A NEW ERA FOR MISS INTERGLOBAL

The Miss Interglobal journey began as a virtual pageant in Lagos, Nigeria, in 2021, with Thailand’s Nachita Jantana initially crowned the first titleholder. The title was subsequently assumed by Filipina Miriam Damoah, marking the pageant’s early chapter in its virtual format.

With the organization’s transition to a physical international grand final in Bali, Indonesia, Miss Interglobal has entered an exciting new era — transforming from its virtual beginnings into a live global celebration of beauty, culture, and international sisterhood.

And now, Margarette Siat Briton stands at the forefront of that new era.

SALI: Culture, Arts and Heritage Research Forum

 I still remember this meaningful seminar last year—SALI: Culture, Arts and Heritage Research Forum, organized by the Provincial Tourism Office of the Provincial Government of La Union on August 27–28, 2025

The two-day forum brought together individuals who shared a common passion for preserving, understanding, and celebrating the rich culture, arts, heritage, and history of La Union. It was more than just a seminar—it was a space for research, dialogue, knowledge-sharing, and a renewed appreciation of who we are and where we came from.

That is why it is truly sad that this kind of meaningful forum did not happen this year.

I strongly believe that if we want to build a great present and a better future, we must first learn to give value to our past. Our heritage and culture are not simply stories of yesterday—they are part of our identity. They remind us of where we came from, the struggles and achievements of our ancestors, and the foundations they built for us to enjoy the present we have today.

We cannot move forward without understanding the journey that brought us here.

To give value to our heritage is to give value to our identity. To preserve our culture is to honor those who came before us. And to learn from our past is to help build a stronger future for the generations yet to come.

I hope that forums like SALI: Culture, Arts and Heritage Research Forum will continue and be sustained in the coming years. We need more spaces where our researchers, cultural workers, artists, students, historians, tourism stakeholders, and communities can come together to rediscover, document, protect, and celebrate the priceless heritage of La Union.

Because our past is not something we should leave behind.

It is something we should remember, preserve, and carry with us as we build the future.

 Ma. Katrina "Kat" Llegado is a Filipina beauty queen, Philippine Air Force reservist, and Financial Management graduate from De La Salle University. Her pageant journey is a testament to perseverance and determination—from being crowned Reina Hispanoamericana Filipinas 2019 in Miss World Philippines and finishing as 5th Runner-Up at Reina Hispanoamericana 2019, to placing 2nd Runner-Up at Miss Universe Philippines 2022 and reaching the Top 6 in 2025, she earned the Miss Supranational Philippines title, setting the stage for the biggest achievement of her career.

During the SupraModel she received a lot of bashing when she did not enter the top 2 per continent but she emerged victorious when she won the crown in the finale night so it is a learning lesson not to underestimate the Filipina queen.

Ibit's Farm Leads Gakakan Tree Conservation Project Through Seed Donations

  

City of San Fernando, La Union — Ibit's Farm, led by Mr. Manuel Gurion Acosta, has launched a Gakakan Tree Conservation Project by donating Gakakan tree seeds to government agencies, schools, tourism stakeholders, and environmental advocates in La Union and other parts of the Philippines.

The project aims to protect and preserve the Gakakan tree, a native species that is becoming harder to find in many areas. By growing and planting more Gakakan trees today, the project hopes to prevent the species from disappearing and ensure that future generations can still enjoy its many environmental benefits.

This initiative is Mr. Acosta's personal contribution in support of the environmental programs of the Association of Tourism Industries and Networks in La Union (ATINLU) and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of La Union (CCILU). It also encourages everyone—from government agencies and schools to businesses and local communities—to work together in protecting the environment.

The donated seeds will be grown by the recipient organizations before being planted in forests, watersheds, schools, parks, farms, and other suitable areas. As the trees grow, they will help improve biodiversity, prevent soil erosion, absorb carbon dioxide, and make communities more resilient to climate change.

Mr. Acosta believes that protecting native trees is everyone's responsibility.

"Every Gakakan tree we plant today helps protect our environment and gives future generations the chance to enjoy this valuable native tree. Conservation starts with each one of us."

ATINLU and CCILU welcomed the project, saying it is a great example of how the agriculture, tourism, business, education, and government sectors can work together to care for the environment.
