Matthan Michael Yu, a 6 footer, 21 years old from Manila is one of the contenders for Mr. & Miss Chinatown 2018. Matthan has a unique name, it was taken from the Bible at Matthew verse 1:15. Matthan is currently taking up BSBA Export Management at De Lasalle College of St Benilde. Matthan took this course because he wants a business course with a major since wants to help their family business someday so it can compete locally and globally and with his course it will improve their knowledge in export management readiness and it will also improve the competitiveness in the international track.

Matthan is into playing basketball, going to the gym and traveling as his hobbies. He joined this year's edition of Mr. & Ms. Chinatown after initially interested to join way back 2014 together with his friends, but didn't pursue since he felt he wasn't yet ready. Man of the Philippines Mountain Province 2018

Man of the Philippines Mountain Province 2018

Basilio "Rjay" Falisong Jr, is the representative of the Mountain Province in Man of the Philippines 2018. Rjay was born in Tocucan, Bontoc, Mt. Province to laborer parents, Mrs Betty and Basilio Falisong Sr. and raised in Belwang, Sadanga, Mountain Province. He is the youngest among the five siblings. Rjay graduated Bachelor of Science in Nursing believing that he can help his fellow villagers when it comes to health problems. Rjay love sports ever since, he engage and challenge himself to any kind of sports. Especially, basketball and table tennis.

It is also his pleasure to promote his culture and tradition. Basilio "Rjay" Falisong Jr., a full blooded Igorot, had a simple life in the mountain. His parents are both farmers. He feels so blessed to have a responsible and loving parents. His parents are both college graduates but farming was their livelihood. His mother had a sari-sari store, that let Rjay to be a delivery boy. He also recalls that they don't have electricity that gas lamps were even scarce since most used "pine trees" as firewoods to create fire. When electricity was already available in their place, his father bought a television when he was in Grade 4 that created in him countless dreams based on what he saw on TV. To be an actor was one of them but it was an impossible dream for him since they live in a far place as well as their poor condition of living. He can still remember that he was a delivery boy, carrying half case of grande beer and one cartoon of gin as early as Grade 3, going up to the mountain as far as 5 kilometers long. He was a delivery boy until he reached 3rd year high school, his sister who graduated college in Baguio City, took him and supported him to graduate in high school as well as his education in college.
He was in 1st yr. College in University of Baguio when his Chemistry teacher entered him to join a pageant, the Search for Mr. And Miss Nursing. He was clueless about pageantry and he got no knowledge about it and was even surprised to face a large crowd of fellow Nursing students, Good thing he won as Darling of the Crowd and the 4th Runner-up placement. He was so sad about how unprepared he was and how he didn't won the title. A friend of him invited him to join a modeling contest, to be his opponent, he joined and won the title Mr. Alakart Fashionista Baguio. He transferred school in University of Pines to take up all his remaining 4th year subjects and he eventually won as Mr. Nursing. Unfortunately he met a motor accident that crippled him and stopped him to stop schooling for a year. After a year, he went back to school but the curriculum changed and his remaining subjects in Nursing were not available, he didn't waste time so he enrolled in Pharmacy, then he joined and won as Mr. Pharmacy, then after two years, the Nursing subjects were made available and he went back and eventually graduated BS Nursing. Rjay considers as a blessing that the National Director of Man of the Philippines Gilbert Dickenson, who encouraged him to join join Man of the Philippines. In this journey, his inspirations are his Family, his beautiful province, his dearest supporters, and their culture and tradition. Every time he walks on the stage, He took courage from them. That is why his advocacy is to promote and preserve their beautiful culture and tradition in this modern era. Rjay is a pure blooded Igorot, born and raised in the majestic mountains of Mountain Province, where culture and tradition are still highly respected and well preserved to these days. He was raised in an exotic place, where green and gold rice terraces, heavenly lakes, crystal caves and verdant mountain are located.
The best experience he ever had is to be supported by his province and invited in big events in Mountain Province and the whole region of CAR is now supporting and inviting him to be part of the events and activities in the region. Rjay believes that this pageant will deepen his knowledge and enhance his skills in pageantry and sportmanship. To explore the world and other cultures. Furthermore, he strongly believe that this will mold him to be a better person he can be.
Rjay would like to extend his gratitude, "To the creator of everything, our God, thank you for this life and countless blessings. To my beloved Mountain Province, it is an honor to represent you; Provincial Tourism of Mountain Province, To Atty. Maximo Dalog Jr, Governor Bonifacio Lacwasan , Vice Governor Francis Tauli, Board Members of Mountain Province, and to all LGU'S of Mountain Province, thank you for the priceless guidance, motivations, time, effort and sponsorship; To Mayor Avelino Amangyen, mayor of Paracelis thank you for providing my ethnic attire. To Mayor Mateo Chiyawan,Mayor Jose Limayog and vice Mayor Joseph Apopot thank you so much for sponsorship for my travel expenses. To mu supporters, thank you for your unending encouragement and support. To my family, thank you for your unwavering love and support. To all others who, in their own simple ways keep on supporting but I failed to mention, thank you. I'l do my best to show to our country, Philippines and even to the whole world that we have a beautiful culture and traditions that still binds and leading us in unity and peace.... I love you all" Basilio "Rjay" Falisong Jr., a full blooded Igorot, will he be the first ever winner of Man of the Philippines?
