A Night of Global Ambassadors: Byron Sng of Malaysia and Khryss Nichole Go of Philippines crowned as the first ever Mr. and Ms. Chinatown Global 2025
January is truly the perfect month to kickstart a brand new journey on welcoming the Year of the Wood Snake, as 20 global candidates – 10 men and 10 women, of diverse backgrounds bound by their Chinese heritage, come together to the pioneer year of Mr. and Ms. Chinatown Global 2025 (MMCG). This prestigious event transcends into the global stage as an amalgam of culture and tradition, a celebration of diverse beauty, wit, and wisdom. The much anticipated Winner’s Night took place in Hilton Manila at Newport World Resorts last Jan 20, 2025.
Starting from the Press Presentation and Reveal which happened on the 14th of January at The Manila Hotel, the candidates confidently exude grace under pressure as they walk and talk their way through the meticulous eye of the media.
A stunning performance of Ribbon Fan dance from the Filipino Chinese Theatre Dance Company was immediately followed by the introduction of the 20 beautiful global ambassadors.
Hosted by notable Filipino-Chinese celebrities, the multi-talented Janeena Chan, and seasoned beauty queen and one of the ambassadors of Mr. and Ms.Chinatown Global, Nicole Cordoves.
One of the special performances of the evening was from the Korean Actor-Singer, Mr. Kim Won Shik. He was awarded with the Best Theme Song award at the 29th Asian Television Awards for his performance of "To Be With You," the official soundtrack of the Philippine adaptation of the hit K-drama series, What's Wrong with Secretary Kim.
The big night showcased the crowns created with the toughest gem stones designed by Nannette Ibasco of Christelle by Nannette, and made by a leading Hong Kong jewelry manufacturer. These elegant pieces symbolize core Confucian values: Hé (Harmony), Zhōng (Loyalty), and Zhì (Wisdom). The crown of the 2nd Runner Up’ is created with the rare and exceptional tanzanite and is believed to promote constructive mindset. The vibrant color of the stone is used to accentuate the bird motif in the design. The 1st Runner-Up’s crown celebrates Pearl of the Orient, the majestic seas of the Philippines, while still adhering to its Chinese values that symbolizes purity and timelessness. The crown donned to Ms. Chinatown Grand Winner is made with jade and adorned with brilliant diamonds, which symbolizes a woman of vision and mission,someone who navigates life with dignity and grace.

The delegates’ overall performance shown in the duration of the competition were also recognized. Lauded for their camaraderie is Ethan Tam Ming Hao (Malaysia) and Jenina Lui (Australia) as Mr and Ms.Friendship; Face of Chinatown is Aragon Yu Lor (Philippines) and Jastine Lim (Philippines); strutting in their qipao, Ethan Tam Ming Hao (Malaysia) and Zhang Ruoxi (China) won Best in Cultural Wear; dressed to the nines by Chynna Mamawal, Aravinda Rao (Singapore) and Khryss Nichole Go (Philippines) won Best in Formal Wear;
The voting for Mr. and Ms. Chinatown Global People’s Choice Award is powered by Eventista. People’s Choice Winners are Rebecca Kwek Jing Yi (Singapore) and Kirby Mark Chen, ensuring them a spot in the semi-finals.
A modern Hua Ren (华人) should continue to uphold the core values of the Chinese heritage, perform groundbreaking cultural innovations, and take pride on the custom and beliefs to be passed down, as the search for the next face of Chinatown continues.
Joseph Morris of Australia comes from a lineage of Rotuman, Chinese and English ancestry, a graduate of TAFE NSW with a certificate in Plumbing, is the Mr. Chinatown Global 2nd Runner up, and for the female category, Ms. Universe PH-Sydney 2024, an accountant, and a lifestyle TV host, Jenina Lui of Australia is Ms. Chinatown Global 2nd Runner up.
Grew up as a shy kid and is currently a student in De La Salle - College of Saint Benilde , Aragon Yu Lor from the Philippines is Mr. Chinatown Global 1st Runner, while Juliette Louie of Hongkong, is crowned as Ms. Chinatown Global 1st Runner up. She is Ms. Hongkong 2017 and is passionate with her advocacy, the “No BS Factory”. She works as an actress, model, and a talent coach.
Hailed as Grand Winner of Mr. Chinatown Global is Byron Sng of Malaysia. Byron has a Master’s degree in Food Technology and a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, and promotes Malaysia’s rich culture and diversity. Khryss Nichole Go, a student nurse from Far Eastern University, and Miss Aura PH 2023 is crowned as Ms. Chinatown Global Grand Winner. She advocates for pursuing one’s passion project, and does feeding programs for dog shelters in Bulacan.
More than the lush crowns and sashes, Mr. and Ms. Chinatown Global is a cultural movement honoring Chinese heritage and inclusivity. The pageant industry has long been a platform of empowerment. The core of Year One of MMCG is not only being able to impart the stories of the Filipino-Chinese upbringing, but the mixed heritage of all the candidates who wish to share and celebrate their diverse ethnicity, in hopes of continuing their advocacies in their chosen communities.
The Mr. and Ms. Chinatown Global is spearheaded by CHiNOY TV and the Federation of Filipino Chinese Association of the Philippines Foundation Inc., and is presented by Oishi and Hilton Manila at Newport World Resorts.
