#SocialXSanFernando

A forum on Social Entrepreneurship was held at the City Hall Lobby of the City of San Fernando, La Union attended by the officers of ATIN (Association of Tourism Industries and Networks in La Union), together with the members of the JCI, Rotary Club and students of SLC, DMMMSU, Lorma Colleges, UCC and St. John Bosco. It was held last August 19, 2017 at 9 am.

The event started with the acknowledgment of the participants by the host, Miss Angelica Maranan, an educator from DMMMSU. Mr. Vic Buenaventura relayed an overview of the event on how the social experiment, social exchange and social engineering are essential tools for the improvement for a better San Fernando. Session 1: "The Business of Caring and Sharing" A discussion on Social Entrepreneur and presentations on grown-up development models with the panel composed of Gawad Kalinga Enchanted Farms representatives who discussed about the need of entrepreneurship to sustain the needs of the people, to train the people to do good things by having a source of income instead of just giving them help. It is also need to make follow-up to see to it that they have a growing entrepreneur and not stagnant so that they can have a sustainable income. A creative expression of our becoming, thus love what you do and do what you love since that is the core of entrepreneurship and doing good is a good business thus it is also a need to maintain good relationship with other people. It was moderated by Ms. Mikka Buenaventura who mentioned that "ang solusyon sa kahirapan Ay nasa Mga mahihirap" which is so true that we ourselves as poor must work to grow. Session 2: "Social Justice: The Foundation of a People's City" A discussion on the prospects, challenges and insights for the economic and social growth of San Fernando and the Province of La Union. It was composed of Xavier Mercado, chairman of ATIN, Randy Berber, JCI San Fernando Saluyot, Rosa Novencino, DMMMSU-MLUC, a Gerry Faerlan, of Metro Water District, Franz Trajano of Gawad Kalinga and Vic Buenaventura of City Mayor's Office. All in all, the panel discussed how both the public and the private sectors provide opportunities for entrepreneurship within the city . A lot of initiatives aims to promote the education on professional social entrepreneurship as well as the private business sectors who are ready to be mentors of budding entrepreneurs.
