Plus Attack : the gamers challenge

Plus Attack: The Gamers' Challenge

Attention gamers, a big event  for all gamers will be happening soon, the Plus (+) Attack
FPS APEX 2018 on November 23-25, 2018 at
Cuneta Astrodome, Pasay City.

A Press Conference was held last  August 29, 2018, at the 8th floor High Street South Corporate Plaza Tower 1, 26th street corner 9th Avenue,
The Fort Bonifacio Global City, Taguig City
1634 Philippines. The present bloggers were informed about the benefits of being a licensed gamer since to be licensed by the Games and Amusement Board is the key to enter competitions particularly the Plus (+) Attack since one of the aim of the event is to change the negative notion about eSports and gamers.
For a non-gamer like me, it was a surprise to know that it esports is already a part of Olympics and the GAB is already making an effort to make it also an official part of the sports  here in our country.

In esports, one won't just be a player forever but he can also engage on it as a career since there are so many opportunities for professional growth and the best way to succeed on it is the passion in the hearts of the gamers turns athlete or  gaming professional.

One of the most evident too during the press conference is that, in esports, it is a game where there is no limits since any passionate gamer can play whether they are tall or short, young or old, man or woman, straight or LGBTQ, rich or poor, as long as they are passionate about the game they can compete and succeed on it.

One new career discovery too is the shout caster, since in regular sports, there are sports commentators, analyzing the games, while in esports, shoutcasters won't just be analyzing the esports being played but also monitors, the attitude of the gamers, since cursing and bullying were practiced by some to attack their opponents, but shout casters will moderate it.

What is Plus Attack? It is an eSports giving focus on the First Person Shooter genre that have the vision to celebrate the FPS community in our country, the Philippines. Plus Attack will staged for 3 consecutive days from November 23-25, 2018, Friday to Sunday, at the Cuneta Astrodome, Pasay City. Aside from the gaming tournament, the event will also feature eSports specific workshops, showmatches and most important, a venue for fun and camaraderie among the eSports Community.

The leading force of Plus Attack, the WASD organization, recognize the difficulty that many aspiring eSports professionals face in trying to make the first foray into the industry , and thus will host game specific coaching sessions, content creation workshops, and shoutcasting workshops, and many more activities that will make future eSports athletes, team managers, coaches, content creators and shoutcasters the tools they need in order to start a career in eSports. These workshops will be headed by seasoned industry professionals and will give budding eSports talents an opportunity to learn from and connect with other passionate individuals in a safe and encouraging environment.

Plus Attack will feature several tournaments, most notably, the Plus Attack CS:GO National Tournament, where the eight best Counter Strike: Global Offensive teams in the Philippines will battle it out to claim the title of the country's number one CS:GO team and a share of a sizable prize pool. Many other tournaments will take place throughout Plus Attack, including tournaments  for the games or Rules of Survival, Player Unknown's Battlegrounds, Rainbow Six: Siege, and Overwatch. All of these tournaments will have a shared prize pool of over one million pesos, with the lion's share of the prize pool going towards the Plus Attack CS:GO National Tournament.

For years, the esports scene of the Philippines has focused on Multiplayer Online Battle Arenas such as DotA 2 or League of Legends, leaving FPS  games in the dust in terms of popularity, palyerbase and prevalence. One of Plus Attack's goal is to celebrate and recognize the loyal Filipino FPS community, and to encourage the community- both players and organizations- to engage in a competitive environment that emphasizes integrity, professionalism and sportsmanship.

The WASD organization, in cooperation with FXZ and SXZ plans for Plus Attack to be a yearly event by FPS players for FPS players. After dreaming and wishing for such an event for the past few years. WASD together with FCZ and SXZ finally decided to organize one themselves, motivated by the FPS community's unending passion for the genre.

Special thanks to Channel Hue and The Office for the warm accommodation during the conference with the bloggers.

Danica Jade Yao for Ms. Chinatown 2018

Danica Jade V. Yao for Miss Chinatown 2018
Danica Jade Yao, 22 years old and a 5'7" tall lady from  of  Bacolod City is one of the hopefuls to clinch the Mr. & Ms. Chinatown 2018.

Danica is currently taking up BS Applied Economics Major in Financial Economics. She took up the said course because she wanted to specialize in a course that would help bring financial literacy to other people. During her spare time, she enjoys practicing yoga, doing crossfit as well as swimming. She loves exercising because it releases happy hormones in her body and it gives her more energy to go on with my day.

Danica joined The Search for Ms. Tay Tung Global and won as First runner up and the mom of her present boyfriend (almost 6 years) was the one who had designated Danica to represent their team.

Right now, she joined Mr. & Miss Chinatown when her friend, Mcrey Banderlipe tagged her in one of Mr. and Miss Chinatown’s online post that says “Crown a friend”. After which, a person from their online team messaged her that they think she have the qualities of a Miss Chinatown, hence she bundled up all the courage and took a leap of faith to continue her journey to the screening proper and finally here she is, less than 1 week away from the coronation night.

So far, the best experience Danica have gained from joining Mr. and Miss Chinatown 2018 is winning the award of Ms. Inglot 2018. She didn’t expect to win the award that day, she was just so happy and proud to be able to showcase her Cultural Costume to everyone, and the award made it more memorable. On the other hand, the best lesson that Danica have gained from joining Mr. and Miss Chinatown 2018 is Life is too short to have regrets. There have been so many activities that she wish things were different. She was juggling her internship, thesis, classes as well as Ms. chinatown activities. But at the end of the day, she knows that she have done the best that she could so, there is no regrets on her part.

As part of preparations, Danica watched pageant videos on YouTube and do pasarela trainings. She also tries to avoid salty food and to exercise more often.

Danica's personal advocacy is spreading mental health awareness in order to make it a norm and not a taboo for people to talk about. The more a person does not reach out for help or the more he/she does not talk about it, the more he/she will suffer. Hence it’s very important for us to be more loving and kind towards everyone.

Danica is thankful for all of the effort and support that people are extending to her. She considers her support team as her strength and keeps her going. Rest assured that She is trying her best to bring home the crown.
