Danica Jade Yao for Ms. Chinatown 2018

Danica Jade V. Yao for Miss Chinatown 2018
Danica Jade Yao, 22 years old and a 5'7" tall lady from  of  Bacolod City is one of the hopefuls to clinch the Mr. & Ms. Chinatown 2018.

Danica is currently taking up BS Applied Economics Major in Financial Economics. She took up the said course because she wanted to specialize in a course that would help bring financial literacy to other people. During her spare time, she enjoys practicing yoga, doing crossfit as well as swimming. She loves exercising because it releases happy hormones in her body and it gives her more energy to go on with my day.

Danica joined The Search for Ms. Tay Tung Global and won as First runner up and the mom of her present boyfriend (almost 6 years) was the one who had designated Danica to represent their team.

Right now, she joined Mr. & Miss Chinatown when her friend, Mcrey Banderlipe tagged her in one of Mr. and Miss Chinatown’s online post that says “Crown a friend”. After which, a person from their online team messaged her that they think she have the qualities of a Miss Chinatown, hence she bundled up all the courage and took a leap of faith to continue her journey to the screening proper and finally here she is, less than 1 week away from the coronation night.

So far, the best experience Danica have gained from joining Mr. and Miss Chinatown 2018 is winning the award of Ms. Inglot 2018. She didn’t expect to win the award that day, she was just so happy and proud to be able to showcase her Cultural Costume to everyone, and the award made it more memorable. On the other hand, the best lesson that Danica have gained from joining Mr. and Miss Chinatown 2018 is Life is too short to have regrets. There have been so many activities that she wish things were different. She was juggling her internship, thesis, classes as well as Ms. chinatown activities. But at the end of the day, she knows that she have done the best that she could so, there is no regrets on her part.

As part of preparations, Danica watched pageant videos on YouTube and do pasarela trainings. She also tries to avoid salty food and to exercise more often.

Danica's personal advocacy is spreading mental health awareness in order to make it a norm and not a taboo for people to talk about. The more a person does not reach out for help or the more he/she does not talk about it, the more he/she will suffer. Hence it’s very important for us to be more loving and kind towards everyone.

Danica is thankful for all of the effort and support that people are extending to her. She considers her support team as her strength and keeps her going. Rest assured that She is trying her best to bring home the crown.
