He feels so blessed to have a responsible and loving parents. His parents are both college graduates but farming was their livelihood. His mother had a sari-sari store, that let Rjay to be a delivery boy. He also recalls that they don't have electricity that gas lamps were even scarce since most used "pine trees" as firewoods to create fire. When electricity was already available in their place, his father bought a television when he was in Grade 4 that created in him countless dreams based on what he saw on TV. To be an actor was one of them but it was an impossible dream for him since they live in a far place as well as their poor condition of living. He can still remember that he was a delivery boy, carrying half case of grande beer and one cartoon of gin as early as Grade 3, going up to the mountain as far as 5 kilometers long. He was a delivery boy until he reached 3rd year high school, his sister who graduated college in Baguio City, took him and supported him to graduate in high school as well as his education in college.
He was in 1st yr. College in University of Baguio when his Chemistry teacher entered him to join a pageant, the Search for Mr. And Miss Nursing. He was clueless about pageantry and he got no knowledge about it and was even surprised to face a large crowd of fellow Nursing students, Good thing he won as Darling of the Crowd and the 4th Runner-up placement. He was so sad about how unprepared he was and how he didn't won the title. A friend of him invited him to join a modeling contest, to be his opponent, he joined and won the title Mr. Alakart Fashionista Baguio. He transferred school in University of Pines to take up all his remaining 4th year subjects and he eventually won as Mr. Nursing. Unfortunately he met a motor accident that crippled him and stopped him to stop schooling for a year. After a year, he went back to school but the curriculum changed and his remaining subjects in Nursing were not available, he didn't waste time so he enrolled in Pharmacy, then he joined and won as Mr. Pharmacy, then after two years, the Nursing subjects were made available and he went back and eventually graduated BS Nursing. Rjay considers as a blessing that the National Director of Man of the Philippines Gilbert Dickenson, who encouraged him to join join Man of the Philippines. In this journey, his inspirations are his Family, his beautiful province, his dearest supporters, and their culture and tradition. Every time he walks on the stage, He took courage from them. That is why his advocacy is to promote and preserve their beautiful culture and tradition in this modern era. Rjay is a pure blooded Igorot, born and raised in the majestic mountains of Mountain Province, where culture and tradition are still highly respected and well preserved to these days. He was raised in an exotic place, where green and gold rice terraces, heavenly lakes, crystal caves and verdant mountain are located.
The best experience he ever had is to be supported by his province and invited in big events in Mountain Province and the whole region of CAR is now supporting and inviting him to be part of the events and activities in the region. Rjay believes that this pageant will deepen his knowledge and enhance his skills in pageantry and sportmanship. To explore the world and other cultures.
