Patricia Anne Nichole Bangug: Mutia ti Bacnotan 2017 for Mutia ti La Union 2018

Patricia Anne Nichole Bangug: Mutia ti Bacnotan 2017 for Mutia ti La Union 2018

From the town of Honey Bee and Silkworm industry in La Union, Patricia Anne Nichole Bangug is a sweet lass from Bacnotan and she aims to clinch the most coveted crown of Mutia ti La Union 2018. Patricia is known for being a competitive and always ends up as a winner since she is one lady who got the beauty and the wit, that makes her stand out in the stage. She is the daughter of Mr. Diosdado and Mrs. Mirasol Bangug of the said municipality.

This young lady considers herself as the apple of the eye of her family since being the youngest, she gets the perks of eating the last slice of pizza, the first taste in carbonara; the food which are huge favorite of her family. Her parents gives her the best of the best describing it as,  If she would wish for a cupcake, they would give her a box of cake. They would always aspire to give more than what she wants, that’s why Patricia really considers herself blessed to have them as her family. Indeed , she is one lucky daughter for having great parents and caring siblings. I could attest to that when I hosted her debut celebration, wherein her family were full force to make it grand and such  a memorable event in her life.
The friends of Patricia are lucky to have her since she is the optimistic and supportive type that she always encourage her friends to aim high and achieve their goals. She would always tell them to cheer up, be happy, enjoy and do what they need to do; claim what they want and work for it. Yes, they may encounter failures and disappointments but in the end they would not regret anything because at least they’ve tried and they’ve learned a life lesson from it. Her positive attitude helps a lot for her friends to believe in their own capabilities thus her friends are given the push to make it good.

In school, she described herself as a self-proclaimed “pabibo”  that she admit to be a bit extra in everything she do. She may be confused if it was a good or bad thing but she considers it a good one because through being “pabibo”, she was able to express her creativity and originality as well as she get grades that are enough to make her parents proud. Thus you can sense how family oriented she is by doing her best not just for her own good but for the honor for her family.
Patricia started her pageant journey thru the inter-school contest, “The Search for Campus King and Queen” way back in 2015. Back then, shewas really nervous and scared because it was her first pageant ever and she really don’t want any disappointments and wasted efforts. But luckily, she won and brought the honor to her school— the Lorma community, my family and most importantly, to God. Her victory was historic too since she had a back to back victory as she inherited the crown from a fellow Lormanian, Cherise Deslippe. She never disappointed her school since she clinched the crown with her own wit and beauty.
Ma'am Mirasol Bangug, an educator and mother of Patricia is the one encouraged her to join pageants eversince she was young, she already trained her to be her  very own version of beauty queen. Patricia recalled that  during her  infant years, she bought many pacifiers with different colors. Then those pacifiers should match the color of her ootd. If her shirt was red, then her pacifier should also be red! That is how high maintenance her mother was and such a fashionista in the making thur the guidance of ma'am Mirasol. But then, as she grew up, she viewed her mother in variation of ways which really encouraged her to join such pageants. First, she is a motivator. She motivates Patricia to push harder and keep doing her best. She would always tell her that she can do it, that she should just put my heart and mind into it. Second, she is not only a dreamer but also a doer. She dreams and exerts a huge effort to make her dreams into a reality. Patricia likes that thing about her, because she influences her to do the same; to dream, believe and achieve.

The support of Ma'am Mirasol and Sir Disodado reaped a reward since Patricia always ends up as the winner of her pageants namely:

1. The search for Campus King and Queen 2015
- Campus Queen 2015

2. The Search for Boardwalk Models 2016
- Boardwalk Teen Model 2016

3. Mutia ti Bacnotan 2017
- Grand winner as well as brought home some special awards like  Most Articulate and Globe Texter’s Choice.

As of now, the pageant title Patricia would like to achieve is Mutia ti La Union 2018 because; First, obviously it is my hometown and she want to be the ambassadress of her own province. Promoting its advocacies and actively participates in the activities of La Union. Second, she wants to be a tool to empower the young (most especially women) and aspiring beauty queens out there who are scared of trying and scared of what other people may say, she would like them to know that being a beauty queen is really hard and tiring. Yes, you may hear side comments from people, may it be good or bad. But then, they should always remember that they are not born to please other people. They are born to please themselves and do what makes them happy. Lastly, indeed Patricia is still young at 18 years old but she believes that she is capable of handling the responsibilities and duties t if ever she will be hailed as the queen of the province on  March 2, 2018.

Behind the pageant success of Patricia, she wants to extend her gratitude to; First, family and friends who served as her strength everytime she feels like giving up. Second, her handler and her makeup artist, Richen Escalona and Dyem Quintero, who were with her eversince she started joining pageants. She is thankful because they do not just only make me beautiful on the outside but also they taught me to be even more beautiful on the inside. Third, Sir Airwind Bautista, for his kindness and compassion. His unending support and care are much appreciated. Fourth, officials of Bacnotan headed by Hon. Francis Fontanilla, & Ma’am Divine, his very caring better-half, and the Coordinator of Bacnotan in the name of Ma’am Nancy Abad, who are all hands-on in supporting her in her journey towards this pageant. Their trust in her for bearing Bacnotan’s name is a pleasure and honor on her part. That is why, she would really strive hard to raise Bacnotan’s flag. Fifth, the Lorma Community, for being supportive in all of their students’ endeavors. Truly, they do not only teach students to be good academically, but they also mold the students to be skillful and efficient individuals who are making a step towards changing the world. Lastly, Our almighty Jesus, for giving her  grace, will-power and wisdom. With Him she is strengthened and she knows that she can face anything.

The pageant icons of Patricia are, Miss Carina Cariño, the winner of Mutia ti La Union 2017, because she is an icon of gender equality. Her answer in the final Q&A has been a hot topic which created a roar among the netizens. Her answer gave justice to the LGBT people who deserve our compassion, support and admiration. then  next is Maxine Medina. As we all know, she had been bashed by almost all of the people in the Philippines. But what did she do? She still stood high, ignored them and did her best. She is indeed a strong woman who deserves to be praised and last but not the least is Pia Wurtzbach! She is a person who is very determined. She possesses the most essential quality of being successful, perseverance. Joining the Binibining Pilipinas three times, she had also been bashed by many people. But little did they know, it is life teaching her, molding her into becoming a braver woman than she is before. I really want to be like her someday. Not only to be a global winner of a pageant, but to be a person who is determined to achieve her goals in life.

As of now, she don’t have any plans yet. Patricia would want first to focus on my journey towards Mutia ti La Union 2018 and enjoy every step of the way. But then, if an opportunity comes, she more than willing to grab it.
In the future, Patricia plans to enter the medical field. Besides the fact that it has been her passion since she was young, she would also like to extend a helping hand and serve those who are in need. Yes it may sound cliché hearing that she would like to serve other people by being in the medical field but it really is the main purpose of entering this field— service. Besides, she really do believe that this is God’s duty forher. This is her purpose. To serve and treat people.
Examining herself, she thinks that she needs to improve her social skills. Because people would always look at her for the first time and say she looks mad  “mataray” but in fact she wants to be friends with them or she can also be shy at times, that she just want to curl up in a ball whenever she is in a huge crowd because she don’t know how to approach people first. But through joining several pageants, she is slowly becoming more sociable because she was able to interact with more people.
Flawless is what you can describe Patricia for having a good skin and innate beauty but she claims of having no beauty secret rather her smile is what makes her beautiful because smiling does not only make you look prettier but it also makes you feel confident as you attract positive vibes in your body. As they say, smile is the best makeup a girl can wear!

            In parting words,  t
he lesson she would like to impart to other aspiring beauty queens is to dream withour fear. They should be a dreamer and not be scared about dreaming it. Patricia knows there are a lot of aspiring beauty queens out there but they are just too scared to join pageants because they may receive some negative feedbacks (She knows a lot of people suffering from this dilemma). But as she had mentioned, you are not born to please anyone. So you should just do what makes you happy. Because after all, that is your life and you really make your own destiny. Be your number 1 fan, not your number 1 basher. Learn to encourage yourself. Perform self-meditations such as talking to yourself and reflecting on the things about yourself; the things you need to improve, your strengths, etc. Yes, it may be a bit awkward talking to yourself and self-meditating but it is actually helpful in knowing yourself more for you to be a more confident individual. Then when the time comes and you think you are ready, then go for it! I would be your number 2 fan (because number 1 would be you!).

I could attest that she can be a great motivational speaker in the future since she indeed can express so much and inspires other fellows to be positive about life and be determined to reach out for their dreams.

Indeed, Patricia is a great inspiration to believe in your own capabilities so you can reach whatever dreams you want to achieve in your life. As of now she is working her utmost effort to represent Bacnotan and make her family and town to be proud of her achievement in Mutia ti La Union 2018.
