Balaw-Balaw is the specialty restaurant in Angono which serves such unconventional dishes. It means an appetizer consisting of small shrimps, mixed with rice gruel and reddish herb, preserved and fermented in an earthen jar. Balaw-Balaw restaurant serves this balaw-balaw appetizer with every meal for free. Fermented for at least 3 days, it has a deliciously tangy taste.
The Balaw-Balaw Restaurant has a museum of folk arts and art gallery. It is founded by Pedro Vocalan, an apprentice pf National Artist Carlos “Botong” Francisco. He is a visual artist and chef that explains the restaurant with a museum and art gallery.
It is owned by Luzvimin L. Vocalan, it is located in Manila East Road, San Roque, Angono, Rizal. She described Balaw-Balaw stands for everything Angono is, a getaway for foodies on the look-out fir authentic provincial fare and a haven for artists.
