Man of the Philippines Sablayan,
Occidental Mindoro 2018
An educator is on quest for the Man of the Philippines
2018 thru Jann Marc Tolentino from Sablayan, Occidental Mindoro. The 23 years old Grade School Teacher recently
completed an Academic Requirements in Masters of Arts in Educational Management.
But do you know that he really wanted to be in medical course before but out of
nowhere he copied his bestfriend's course during entrance exam and he passed it
and continued to take Education. While in college, Jann Marc just enjoyed life that time and realizing he
took up the Noblest profession and gradually embraced the field of education. He
knows that it's God purpose why he put him in academe since he wants him to be
an inspiration to his students.
On his spare time, he likes diving since he is a beach person.
He really loves going to the beach and create moments in the paradise
underneath.
Jann Marc joined pageant
way back 2016, It was Mr. Sablayan, it was his first pageant and fortunately he
won without any experience in field of
pageantry. He then enjoyed being applauded on stage and joined some barangayan
pageants in their province which gives him an extra income. And of course some
type of adrenaline rush when he was walking in the stage since it makes him to feel
like he was composing himself in front of many people while exerting his bets
effort to do well in the pageant. Jann Mar had a lot of achievements in pageantry
like Mr. Sablayan 2016-Winner, Mr.
Nicolas 2017- winner, Mr. Calintaan
2018-1st runner-up, Ginoong Lingkor
Bayani- 1st runner up and Mr. Pag-asa-winner. Most common awards that he
received in 5 pageants that he joined was Mr. Photogenic. So far that' s all
the pageants he joined and gained such
an amazing achievement in this 5 pageants.
When he read about the advocacy of Man of the Philippines
its really pushed him to join since he joined this pageant for his students and
for the Mangyan kids. He want to make this pageant a platform of shuttering the
boundaries of free education for those less fortunate children. One of his friend
in facebook sent him a banner of MOPH that they need a candidate. At first, he
was really intimidated to join because of the busy schedule. But then he keep
the flaming spirit of a fighter in him so he decided to join. Jann March have a
lot of inspiration why he joined MOPH, 1st is the less fortunate children that they
need a help in their schooling. He had seen his students striving for them to
achieve their dream but because of unprivileged life that they have. They were
not able to continue their studies, that is why, as a teacher it really made him
strong enough to fight in this pageant. For the kids that has a big dream and
dreaming to change his life, 2nd is his
family specially to his father and lola who raised him to be of who is he is, as
a person since he know right now they are very proud of him. 3rd is for all the
hero of our generation, for the TEACHERS. He wants to show to the Philippines that
teachers are not only equipped of knowledge that they used inside the classroom
but also, equipped with confidence that they can be a better version of their
self.
The advocacy of Jann Marc is to support underprivileged
children in their education especially his ethnicity, he wants to give a light
of changing their destiny and their life. He wanted to serve as a torch to hold
high enough so they will all see the light of knowledge, wisdom and skills. Sablayan, Occidental Mindoro the largest
municipality in the Philippines that you can find tribes of Mangyan people who treasured
their culture that gives name to their province. Aside from the culture of
their tribes, one of the most unique in Occidental Mindoro is the Tamaraw, it is endemic and only in their province that
can find this might creature.
As a candidate of MOPH , it's a great blessing for Jann Marc
to know a lot of people from different provinces of the country, it helped him to
grow as person who can be able to deal with others and to create atmosphere
that is truly harmonious. The camaraderie that they we build here is more
precious than any titles they can get since joining the pageant is a lifetime
experience to treasure.
